Hello! My name is Ron Thomas. I have spent over thirty years in the eyewear industry, with twenty-five of those years as a New York State Licensed Optician. Throughout my career, I have assisted thousands of individuals in appreciating the gift of sight while enabling them to express their personalities through eyewear. This journey has been incredibly fulfilling. As I advanced in my profession, I began to observe certain aspects of frame design that made it challenging to assist individuals of African descent and other "hard to fit" ethnicities. Frequently, my clients would compromise on style instead of ensuring proper fit and comfort. Many African Americans and others with similar facial features often discover that contemporary eyewear frames do not cater to their facial structures. For years, I have supplied eyewear that required significant adjustments for a comfortable fit. Many customers would simply accept a stylish frame due to limited options. When I noticed both strangers and celebrities wearing poorly fitting eyewear, I realized that others were facing the same challenges. This inspired me to create Icon Iwear. Eyewear with dimensions that align with the facial structures of People of Color. African Americans and other People of Color have significantly influenced pop culture.
